March at KPLA: Spring is in the Air!
The days are getting longer, the air is getting warmer, and Spring is just around the corner! March is a time of change, renewal, and growth, making it the perfect month to embrace new beginnings. At KPLA, we love watching children experience the wonder of the seasons changing—from noticing the first flowers bloom to enjoying more sunshine for outdoor play.
As we welcome the shift from winter to spring, let’s take a moment to appreciate nature, celebrate St. Patrick’s Day, and prepare for daylight savings time.
The Magic of Changing Seasons
Spring is a reminder that growth is happening all around us—from the trees budding to the fresh energy in the air. It’s a season of discovery, curiosity, and adventure! Children naturally notice and respond to the world around them, making this a great time to talk about the changes they see.
Ask your child:
What do you notice outside that looks different from last month?
How does the warmer weather make you feel?
What colors do you see in nature now?
Observing and discussing these little changes helps children develop awareness and appreciation for the world around them.
Daylight Savings Time Reminder
Don't forget to set your clocks forward one hour on March 10th! While losing an hour of sleep can be tough, it also means longer days, more sunshine, and extra time for play!
To help little ones adjust to the time change: ☀ Start adjusting bedtime a few days early by moving it up 10-15 minutes each night. ☀ Let in natural sunlight in the morning to help reset their body clock.☀️ Keep a consistent bedtime routine to make the transition smoother.
St. Patrick’s Day Fun ☘️
March wouldn’t be complete without a little St. Patrick’s Day magic! Whether you celebrate by wearing green, learning about Irish traditions, or hunting for leprechaun mischief, it’s a fun time for children to use their imagination and creativity.

Embrace the Fresh Start! Just like the trees start fresh in spring, this is a great time to refresh routines, declutter spaces, and set new goals. Whether it’s organizing a play area, introducing new learning activities, or getting outside more, little changes can make a big impact.
A Little Motivation for the Month
"Spring is proof that there is beauty in new beginnings." 🌿
As we step into this season of growth, renewal, and fresh starts, let’s remember that small changes lead to big transformations. Whether it’s learning something new, being kinder, or simply appreciating the beauty around us, every day is a chance to grow.
So, let’s step into March with excitement, curiosity, and joy!
