February at KPLA: Celebrating Love, Kindness, and Fairness

February is the month of love, kindness, and fairness, and at KPLA, we believe these values shape not only strong individuals but also strong communities. While Valentine’s Day is often celebrated with cards, candy, and gifts, we see it as an opportunity to teach deeper lessons—lessons that help children and families grow together in love and fairness.
More Than Just a Holiday
Valentine’s Day isn’t just about giving chocolates or receiving gifts—it’s about expressing love in its many forms. Love is found in the small moments: a kind word, a helping hand, or simply taking time to listen to someone who needs to be heard. At KPLA, we encourage children to recognize and appreciate love beyond material things, helping them build meaningful connections with their peers, teachers, and family.
Kindness: The Heart of KPLA
Kindness is at the core of everything we do at KPLA. It’s in the way we teach, the way we interact, and the way we support each child’s development. Through activities like cooperative play, storytelling, and thoughtful conversations, we help children understand that kindness isn’t just an action—it’s a mindset.
This month, we’ll focus on:
❤️ Acts of Kindness: Encouraging children to share, help, and uplift one another.
💌 Fairness in Action: Teaching the importance of taking turns, sharing, and respecting others’ feelings.
🌱 Love Through Learning: Helping children see that love means understanding, patience, and compassion—qualities that last a lifetime.
Fairness: Learning to Treat Others Right
Fairness is a value that can be tricky for little ones to grasp, but at KPLA, we make it fun and engaging. Through group activities, role-playing, and discussions, we help children understand what it means to treat others with respect and equality. Whether it’s learning to take turns in a game or acknowledging each person’s unique strengths, fairness builds a foundation for lifelong friendships and teamwork.
February Tips for Families
💖 Spread Kindness Together:
Encourage your child to do one kind act each day! This could be drawing a picture for a friend, saying something kind to a family member, or helping clean up without being asked.
💖 Have a Family Gratitude Jar:
Each night, write something you’re grateful for on a small piece of paper and drop it into a jar. At the end of the month, read them together as a reminder of all the love and kindness in your home.
💖 Practice Fairness Through Play:
Board games and card games are a great way to teach fairness! Let children take turns being the game leader and encourage good sportsmanship whether they win or lose.

This fun and simple recipe is perfect for kids to make with their parents. It’s a healthy and festive treat that’s great for breakfast or a snack!

Let’s Make February Meaningful
At KPLA, we believe that love, kindness, and fairness should be part of our everyday lives—not just something we celebrate on one day in February. Whether it’s sharing a smile, helping a friend, or learning how to be fair in play, these small moments shape the way children see the world.
This month, let’s take the time to slow down, be present, and show love in ways big and small. After all, the best lessons don’t come from things—they come from the heart.
💕 Happy February from all of us at KPLA! 💕
